Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive around the time of the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
